Procedure for Fuel Filter Replacement
1. Depressurize the Fuel System

3. Disconnect Fuel Lines
Caution
Even after depressurizing, residual fuel pressure may exist. Have rags ready to catch any fuel that escapes.
- Place a drain pan or absorbent rags beneath the fuel filter to catch any spilled fuel.
- Identify the inlet and outlet fuel lines connected to the filter. Note their orientation.
- Using appropriate wrenches (flare nut wrenches are recommended to prevent rounding off fittings), carefully loosen and disconnect the fuel lines from the filter.
- Inlet Line: This line comes from the fuel tank/pump.
- Outlet Line: This line goes towards the fuel rail/engine.
- Remove any mounting bolts or clamps securing the fuel filter to its bracket.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
- Once all lines and mounting hardware are disconnected, carefully remove the old fuel filter. Be prepared for additional fuel to drain from the filter as it is removed.
- Properly dispose of the old filter and any contaminated rags according to local regulations.
5. Install the New Fuel Filter
- Ensure the new fuel filter is oriented correctly. Most filters have an arrow indicating the direction of fuel flow (from the tank to the engine).
- Install the new filter into its mounting bracket, securing it with the bolts or clamps.
- Replace all crush washers or O-rings on the fuel line fittings with new ones provided with the filter. This is crucial for preventing leaks.
- Carefully connect the fuel lines to the new filter, ensuring they are attached to the correct inlet and outlet ports.

6. Reconnect and Prime the System
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Reinstall the fuel pump fuse or relay.
- Turn the ignition key to the ON (II) position for a few seconds without starting the engine. This will activate the fuel pump and begin to prime the system, repressurizing the lines. Repeat this step two or three times.
- Check all fuel line connections around the new filter for any signs of leaks.
7. Start the Engine and Check for Leaks
