I only have one USB port on my laptop so bought a USB hub and got playing.
The laptop can see the hub and brings it up in the usb devices, if i then plug in the ostrich into it it also shows up in the devices but it wont work. The program that operates it says that it can not be found. If i take the hub out the ostrich then works fine but i need to run datalogging at the same time.
Any ideas?
im using a hub just fine with data logging and a ostrich. what do you mean when you plug it in it doesnt see it? when i plug both my ostrich and data logger in they show up as vitrual comports or something like that. check there with them plugged in and not under the USB header
I managed to get it sorted. For some reason the com ports change when the hub is plugged in, Its 2 without and 3 or with it depending about which socket i use.
yeah it will do that. it sees it as a diffrent device when its plugged into a hub. when i am just data logging im using the one port and it comes up com4. also when i plug in the ostrich it comes up the same. but when i plug in the hub they change. depending on what port on the hub i use it will install another one. but thats the great part of usb something like 128 devices!
But if your an idiot like me, you try connecting to the wrong comport for 3 hours in the attempt to get it working!
yeah i read for months befor i actually got my stuff. when i got it, it still took me awhile to get it all right. but thats why pgmfi is here. its made my life easier.
