im confused with this ecu never seen one like it
i brought a p06 ecu converted it to p28 spec to fit in my car (done a minime on it using a z8 head)
brought the conversioin harness because the orignal ecu is supposed to be obd2a (so i thought)
so i take it out to swap them over to plug the p06 ecu in and my conversion harness is wrong.
the connector inside the car looks like obd1 (blue connector in pics). P1G ecu
ecu plug with two notches on plug A are slighly different??
so i decide to take a look inside strange and bit of searching and i found it looks very simlar to a p07 ecu the one out of the VX in the US
just thought this is quite interesing because the stock ecu has wideband o2
is this the missing link of the ecu world could the stock 37820-P1G-E11 be chipped to make use of the the WBO2 it has 2 highside switches i pressume for EGR an VTEC-E and another board where the barometric pressure sensor normally is and to oki mcu's one with m662-364 and m6**-248 *i belive this says 62 or 22 but its had to read through the paint that is on it
anyways pics explain better :)

sorry bit of noob :!: not got the pictures on here how i would like but hopfully it works
any ideas welome
anyone chipped an ecu like this
thanks baz

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15z8hd

That does look kind of like a P07...

I don't think you'll have much luck with a chip, but might be worth a try.... highly doubt it will work though.

do me a favor; Those high side switched; tell me the codes off them.... one will be a 5050 or 5151, and the other may have a waaay different designator (such as the P07 has) because I believe the extra different one I think is for the o2 heater control on the 5-wire. It looks the same, but it is a different chip.... so this is what I am wondering about your ECU.

Follow IC15's pins to the ECU connector; one of them will lead to a pin to the engine harness... which pin does it lead to? and the second IC behind it... does it lead to an pin on the ECU connector as well?

that baro sensor looking part might be an immobilizer.... i dunno... hard to tell from the pics....

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15z8hd

ic15 is (sk5151s) middle pin goes to plug a15 vtec soloniod

above sk5151 ic27 (tpd 5g 1001s) pin5 goes to plug a16 ho2d pin 2 and 3 ground

the other two transitors(nec d1594) middle pin q30 goes to plug a6 egr? & q21 goes to a5 iacv

1 2
I I
-- =IC eg.sk5151/tpd5g1001s
I I I
3 4 5

this is using the standard odb1 pinout eg. a1, a2, a3 and a14 injector

is q37 the one needed for alt control to get rid of the cel on your vx ecu any idea a suitable replacment npn pnp?

I've been getting these blue plug ECUs for years. There are ones that aren't dual processor, that look just like the rest of the P28 family. Easily chippable and converted to VTEC.

What are you getting them out of?? USDM cars?? I have never seen the blue plugs, and it is interesting that a 96+ has the plugs for obd-1 and an ECU that is potentially chippable.

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15z8hd

mine came out of a edm civic its the standard ecu im just looking into chiping it as i have the standard L2H2 wide band oxgen sensor and wiring in the car this thread has more info on the vx p07 ecu which is very simmlar viewtopic.php?f=45&t=16869
i think the uk was possably a little slow to implment odb2 on this model

I chipped an ecu like this before, the engine code it came from was a d16y2(96). Cant remember the ecu number. you can just shave off the little tabs on the plug and they will fit.

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15z8hd

ive had a bit of a breakthrough
i have chipped the p1g ecu and hooked up my ostrich and my ngk L1H1 wideband and its running from the ostrich without check a engine light.
yay i said maybe a little prematurly thou, i do get the 3 flashes but thats my ectune pro doing that so nothing out of the ordinary.
the problem is i cannot conect the dataloger as of yet but it works fine with my converted p06 ecu? seems a little odd any ideas? im going to go over the board and re-solder the components around the cn2 header tonight and hopfully dataloging springs into life, one thing im going to try is see what voltage is coming up on pin d14 o2 sensor input with the wideband hooked up, im just going to get the multi meter on there see if its outputting anything logical. a linear scale would be awesome . i was thinking its probably best to try running off the ostrich and then the stock map for comparison.
i will update this when i have some more info

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15

Hi sorry for digging this thread ,

I got all most the same ECU P1G-E00

It got a resistor in RP14 but I cant find RP13, Guessing by everything I assume this is a Manual ECU , But IC15 and IC16 are present (IC16 is 9-pin ) ,R54 does not exist.

I need to convert it to an Auto , Does any body know what tweeks do I have to do?

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15

as far as i know this type of ecu cant be converted to auto it doesnt have spaces for the auto lockup solenoids. i would see if you can get hold of a p06 or p28 to convert(theres a lot of suport for these on this forum) or an auto ecu in the first place and use the ecu you have for donor parts 8bit octal latches an that.
theres a slim posibility you could repurpose the egr and vtec-e outputs but u would need to be a codeing wizzard of some kind, also im still having issues getting datalogging to work on my p1g ecu

Thanks ,I will keep this one for later use with a manual

Any way I brought a Auto P1K at last
P1G on left : P1K on right

Since this board looks more like a P06 ,this one is perfect for my car (auto , non vtec and connectors are exactly the same)

As you can see there is an Immobilizer board on top right ,how did you managed to get way with it? did you use an after market dummy chip?
just removing alone the IMMO board will make my car run with CIL light on, isn't it?

Re: P1G ECU Pics From a EDM 96 HX Civic (eng code d15z3) D15

P1K uses an 11F0 style board design and can be chipped/VTEC added just the same. You do not need to touch that smaller board in order for it to run properly, just leave it alone.
