:?: Alright been searching for a couple of hours and no results. So my cousin has a chip (SST 27SF512) with a b20 map. I'm tryin to burn a gsr map for him but it doesnt burn.(did everything correctly) I used my personal chip to burn the gsr map and it works. Could my cousins chip be bad?

If SST27SF512 cannot burn with BURN1 or BURN2, make sure all setup is ok. If all setup correct, programmer also dont have any broken or damage. I can tell your cousin SST27SF512 is C1 type or china manufactured. Burn2 can used C2 SST27SF512 that sell by moates.net or mcumall ebay.

C1 SST27SF512 or china manufactured need 12vdc programming voltage, and burn1 dont have it.. Try used willem programmer or any universal programmer to burn some bin file to your cousin chip, im sure it can be done with willem prog. Good Luck

For DKU cable i never used it, better get Extreme Hulog :)

oh okay, i see. i think the chip might be what you were saying about the c1 type or china manufactured. and as for the datalogging, i'll just get the hulog to be on the safe side. thanks for the input, i appreciate it! :)

holy smokes! never knew they make fake ones lol so my cousin's chip is fake. it says taiwan and the SST logo is dot printed...mine is laser etched. so this mean that these fake rom chips can only be burned once?

p.s. thanks sicknastyb17! ill keep a lookout for them fake ones

Re: sst chip won't burn

No most of the fakes are made with w27c512 and w27e512. Both of these chips are made by winbond. They are reprogramable. But they use a different voltage to erase then the sst27sf512. The moates can not reprogram these (winbond). But any other burn that supports the winbond w27c512 or w27e512 can.
