Low cams, why tune them after VTEC engages?

Hi guys, :)

Noob question. I was searching for an answer as to why you need to continue tuning the low cams even after VTEC engages and not just leave what's in the basemap. Is it for safety precautions in case VTEC fails and reverts back to low cams or do the low cams still have an impact at the higher rpms?

oil pressure
speed sensor
not to operating temp
knock code
many many reasons

Thanks Sicknasty. I had a feeling it was in the lines of VTEC not engaging but wanted to confirm. :)

When the car is cold, it will only be running on low cam so if someone is stupid enough to take the cold engine up there, it should be tuned for safety (not to mention all the other reasons that vtec won't engage), and its good on race cars so if vtec disables in a race, the car can still be driven hard to the end. As it shouldn't be run much on high rpms on low cam, just make sure its plenty safe and its fine.

Also if you rev the cars at high revs consecutively during the low cam map, you can risk damaging the LMA's.
