OBD1 JDM P72 on OBD2 H22

Where did you get your Distributor? Would you mind telling me about your conversion harness, specifically how you made it? The OBD 1 hybrid distributor I used the CYP sensor was grinded down so I could swap it into my OBD 2 Distributor, so I think it was bad anyhow. Funny I should have tried the OBD 1 Dizzy, before I hacked into it and modified its CYP sensor. I ended up blowing the rings in cylinders 1 and 3 because I had the hybridized Distributor wired up but I forgot to fully tighten down the Dizzy, which caused misfires in cylinders 1 and 3. I'll be replacing the rings this weekend, and my new custom header from six sigma racing will be here. So I definitely want to get this thing tuned. I would defintely appreciate your help on the conversion harness. Did you hack into the engine harness in order to get to the CKP, and TDC wires, or did you run the wires directly to the ECU? Have you tried your P5 with the OBD1 ECU?

I got my distributor from a local japanese engine importer, it was in very good shape. I converted the JDM distributor that I got into a USDM version (no internal coil, one wire added to the harness) and I am using the existing external coil. You could use the JDM distributor the way it is but you either have to leave the external ignition coil with the 4 position plug (C139) plugged in or connect the blk/yel and yel wires together at that plug. I chose to modify my distributor so I could use the external coil. The conversion harness plugs into the 8 pos OBD1 distributor plug, there are two 4 pos conectors on the other end, one goes to the OBD2 4 position distributor plug on the engine harness (C131) and the other one plugs into the C102 ecu side. C136 is the same for OBD1 and OBD2.

With the harness that I made there is no hacking, splicing or soldering involved, just plug and play.
I used a shielded cable for the TDC and CKP sensors, the shield is grounded right on the distributor, that's what the ring connector is for in my picture. If you use OBD1 distributor with a OBD2 ecu you will get codes, I didn't pull them off.

Prelude Dude I sent you a private message. I'm interested in the conversion harness.

here it is,it's just a base H22 map with certain sensors disabled because of my JDM P72.

Well today I used another OBD2 distributor, and plugged in my JDM p72, voilla no codes. Something is different between the CYP sensors in certain OBD2 Distributors.
