Oki 83C154 Microcontroller Reference

Technical overview of the Oki 83C154 microcontroller used in OBD0 MPFI ECUs, including compatibility, replacement options, and architectural notes.

Avançado 4

The Oki 83C154 is a microcontroller (MCU) utilized in OBD0 MPFI ECUs, featuring 16KB of on-chip code memory. While typically protected against unauthorized reading, specialized MCU readers are available for data extraction.

Technical Specifications

The 83C154 architecture is largely compatible with the Intel 8051 instruction set, with the following notable distinctions:

  • Timer Configuration: Includes a third timer, deviating from standard 8051 implementations.
  • Instruction Processing: The primary architectural difference lies in the handling of the A5 instruction.

Important

The 83C154 can only be replaced by an Intel 8051-compatible MCU if the running code is free of the A5 instruction.

Replacement and Compatibility

Many 8051-compatible MCUs utilize the same 40-pin PDIP package as the 83C154, facilitating hardware-level replacement. The following microcontrollers have been verified for compatibility in these ECU applications:

  • Dallas 80C320
  • ATMEL 89C55
  • T89C51RD2
