Real-Time Programming (RTP) is a system where the standard ECU EPROM is replaced with a custom hardware interface. This modification allows for calibration changes to be uploaded and executed while the engine is running, eliminating the need to physically remove and re-burn chips for every adjustment.
Overview
RTP systems interface directly with the ECU's memory bus. By utilizing an external laptop or tuning interface, the user can modify fuel maps, ignition timing, and other engine parameters in real-time.

- Live Calibration: The tuner modifies parameters within the software. These changes are transmitted to the RTP hardware's RAM, which the ECU reads as its primary instruction set.
- Verification: The engine management system immediately reflects the updated values, allowing for instant feedback on engine performance.
Important
Ensure that the RTP hardware is securely seated in the ECU socket. Poor connections can lead to intermittent data corruption and potential engine damage due to incorrect fuel or ignition values.
