ECU Conversion Guide
Conversion involves modifying ECU wiring to install a different generation ECU (OBD1 or OBD2) in your vehicle.
Conversion is the process of modifying the wire harness on an ECU to enable installation of a different generation ECU. For example, you may want to install an OBD1 ECU in a vehicle originally equipped with OBD2, or vice versa.

ECU conversions require careful attention to wiring pinouts and compatibility. Incorrect modifications can damage the ECU or vehicle electrical systems.

When converting between OBD generations, the wire harness must be adapted to match the pinout and signal requirements of the new ECU. This involves:
- Identifying differences between source and target ECU pinouts
- Modifying or rerouting wires as necessary
- Ensuring all sensor and actuator signals are properly connected
- Testing all systems before full installation
Before You Start
- Document the original wiring configuration
- Obtain complete pinout diagrams for both the source and target ECU
- Verify compatibility of all sensors and actuators
- Use a multimeter to test connections during the conversion process
