Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor

The exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor and what it tells you.

Adapted from pgmfi.org wiki

Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor, often ''EGT'' An outboard meter and sensor that is installed into the exhaust system close to the head that measures exhaust gas temperature. Along with a Wide Band O2 and Data Logging, can be a very effective tool for ECU Tuning. Assuming a properly tuned Air Fuel Ratio, EGTs generally provide insight into how accurate the ignition timing is.
